Health Update!

Are you near some wood?  Because, you'll need to knock on it in about 87 seconds.

I, Corbin Monkey W, have been ouchie free for 6 (SIX) weeks!

HURRY, KNOCK!

Now, of course, I couldn't go see Dr. Mike for a check up without having some sort of new issue.  Well, some of you who have read my blog for a while might remember how I used to wag my tail super fast and super hard and spilt it open... well, my Happy Tail is back.

Woah! Is that a murder scene?!  Nope, just Corbee's happy tail.

I mean, sometimes when I do it real good and I'm still waggin, I can get blood on the ceiling!  Yep, the momma sure loves cleaning it when it gets up there.  It goes on the table, the windows, the counter, cabinets, fridge... everywhere.  Heather even found some on the inside of her cup last weekend! BOL!  Drink my blood, lady.

Ut oh... you don't think Dr. Mike is going to take my tail, do you?

Well, Dr. Mike came in and gave me a good, long look.  He said I'm looking good, overall!  Then, he checked out my happy tail and said "Well, at least he's happy again!"  Truth, Dr. Mike. Truth.  I AM super happy again!  So, he called to one of his tech ladies to get some stuff to wrap my tail up.  When she came in she ask Dr. Mike if he needed help, and ya know what he said?  Now, keep in mind, Dr. Mike is a little afraid of pit bulls... but he said "Nope, this is the only pit bull in the whole wide world that I'm not afraid of."  Yep, that's me!

I'm a lover.

So, Dr. Mike wrapped my tail up real good and I barely even knew there was a wrap on it!  Hopefully this will give it time to heal up good so it'll stop splitting open every time I hit it.

Do you see it?  That white spot at the end of my tail, that's my new wrap.
Which, I took off this morning, but it lasted for a whole 12 hours rather than 12 seconds!

All and all, it was a great vet visit!  We decreased my prednisone again, so now I'm only on 5mg, twice a day!  And as long as my ouchies stay away, in 3 more weeks I'll go down to 5mg ONCE a day!  Then, in 3 more weeks, 5mg every other day!  And then, 3 weeks after that, I might be able to stop completely, and as soon as I'm off of the prednisone for 3 weeks, we'll do another ultrasound on my heart to make sure that's working okay, then we can start weaning my heart medications!
It'll be a long process, but hopefully by the end of the year, I'll be off of all of my medications and even though we never figured out what was causing my ouchies, hopefully we'll never have to!

The best part of my great vet visit?  The momma stopped and got me a cheeseyburger on the way home!
One cheeseyburger, hold the onions.

Mom, I hear you saying I only get a few bites.... wtf.
I'll fix that.......

What cheeseyburger?

Hope everyone stays cool this weekend! Supposed to be in the upper 90s here, so I'll be inside maxin' & relaxin' in my AC.

**Momma note:  Corbin doesn't usually get cheeseburgers, especially after his scare with pancreatitis... so when he's really super well behaved, he gets a few bites... when I turned my back for .5 seconds to answer Adam's question about why he doesn't get onions, BAM.  No trace of the cheeseburger.  Looks like we'll be working on that "leave it" command.

  1. I think you are part vampire and are wanting them to share a bit of your blood making them vampire pit bulls, too. :) That is our option, but we've been playing peter pan all day and peter pan and vampires go hand in hand... (Milo had to be Wendy... seriously, he looks silly in a dress!!)

So glad that you are feeling better and all is well with your happy tail! :)

    We love your updates! :)

  7. Great news about the health issues. That's something that I'm always worried about with Ray. Kudos to Corbin, too, on the quick snatch of the burger, lol!

  8. Hi Corbin! We knocked on wood!
I also have the tail oochy when i wag it too hard, but nowhere near as bad as sending blood to the ceiling!!! You should send a video to the book of records!

  9. Dear Corbin, we've been thinking about you all week, cuz Bart tweaked his back the other day and was crying like a little girl. He's had several acupuncture treatments, but has had to take steroids, muscle relaxers and pain pills. Dr. Sarah wants to wait for it to calm down a little before he gets the full x-ray work up. Butt, mom hates to hear him cry-out. You big, tough boys and your ouchies!! BTW, Dr. Sarah is a little scared of rotties (she had a bad experience once with one) but we're turning her around!!

We're so glad you're feeling the betterment!!

  17. Heehee, Ma is laughing out loud at your post Corbin! You should tell Mom that if she doesn't want you to eat her cheeseburger, she shouldn't leave it in your reach, huh? I mean, what is a pup to do? K9's only have so much self control when it comes to cheeseburgers!!BOL
That is such great news about your ouchies!! YEA! You are such a good patient Corbin, I could learn a thing or two from you, my Ma says!

  20. Way to seize the opportunity...er...cheeseburger Corbin! I think it is just reward for not only feeling so good that you are trying to wag your tail off, but that you are such a positive role model for pit bulls that you are changing your vets attitude a bit.

  21. Hooray for ouchie-free!! I feel your pain on the happy tail, though. I had happy tail when I first went to my foster home, and I ended up getting it amputated. I have a super-handsome boxer nubbin now, though, so all's well that ends well!

  22. This is such awesome news, Corbin. You deserved that cheeseburger!

  25. I am SO HAPPY to hear you are doing so well! Well, except for your happy tail. You gotta take care of that! Once, the groomer trimmed one of Trixie's nails too short and it looked like a murder scene in the living room! I'm knocking on all available wood here for you!!

  26. YAY!!!! Dis is such wunderful news Corbin! We haven't had a play date in 87 years so I am lookin' forward to when you is all better:)

  27. We are so happy to hear all this good news, Corbin, except for the tail. Our lab cousin Gypsy had happy tail too, and her family knows all about blood on the ceiling:( She ended up having hers docked but we will cross our paws that yours heals just fine.

    Have a good weekend.

  29. What wonderful news! I so thrilled for you, Corbin! I even did 87 knocks on wood for you. Seriously! My chi's couldn't figure out what it was at first and kept barking.

I can't believe you let your mom take a picture of you sitting in front of the cheeseyburger. My boys have no self control when it comes to food, there's no way they would have let it sit there long enough to take a picture.

That was sweet of your mom to give you a special treat like that. My boys don't get people food very often so when they do, they know it's a treat.

I hope your tail heals up soon.

    your pal,
    Garth

PeeS - we need to work on educating Dr. Mike about pitbulls. Has he seen the Pitty Post Day posts?

  32. So nice to see a Pitbull getting good publicity - well appreciated.

  33. Sorry - last comment went out with the wrong profile. Golly, this technical stuff these day!?!?!

  34. Reggie says that he knows how you feel Corbin. He was on the prednisone for 6 months and it wasn't fun. Reggie gives you a high paw for coming through the other side. Way to go!

He would eat the cheeseburger, but he's a New York dog, so he prefers bagels with a schmear of cream cheese.

  35. I knocked my head in place of wood - second best thing when there's no wood around. We're very happy to hear that you've been feeling well, Corbin! It's a great reason for Happy Tail (which we hope gets better really soon!)

    ReplyDelete
  36. We has had a few fosters here with the happy tail and mom do always say if'n CSI were to come in here and spray their loominol stuff around they would think there was mass murder committed in our house, BOL. But better happy tail than ouchies - so glad the ouchies is gone!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Super noos for you my pal. Glad you is fixed up and got your happy tail back. I am likin your style wiv the cheesyburger too. Can you post instrucshunull viddyoh mebbe?

  38. OMD, I am so super excited dat my birfday pressie holder has been ouchie free fur 6 whole weeks...it may sound likes a long time fur some but compared to how long you was hurtin'...well, you knows what I mean!
I glad da happy tail is back but dude really, does you haves to make it squirt blood like dat? Da blood in da cup was hilarious though...but I does have a gross sense of humor though.
Very interestin' your Doc be afraid of pits. I wonders why.

  39. Super glad to hear you are ouchy free still, Corbin! Tell your mom to give you lots of cheeseburgers to celebrate (and then back to regular food tomorrow)!

  40. I can't imagine if I went to the vet and my vet wasn't sure about pit bulls-- I'd be too hard headed and relocate. I am glad your big heart has warmed up your vet! Congrats on being ouchie free--happy tail is a small price to pay for a happy life!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Corbin we are so happy for you about your ouchies! Minus the happy tail though. Youch. Unless you are auditioning for the Twilight movies, may want to keep the blood spatter down :) Can't say I blame you for the cheeseburger incident. But don't tell your Mom I said that.

  42. BOL on the cheeseburger theft my furiend :D Good one!

Sooooo HAPPY that you don't have the ouchies! Yay! Maybe one of those new fangled sensors like they have on cars to warn of impending fender benders could be attached to your tail to warn you of obstacles too close by when you're waggin? or your Mom could just foam rubber the whole house ;) Wag softly my furiend.

    Waggin at ya,
    Roo

  43. I so hope your tail feels better and your ouchies all go away so you can get off all the meds.

I was surprised mom got you a cheesyburger from THERE though....I thought pitbulls were against McDonalds. ;-0

  44. Good news! well except the happy tail but you will be ok. So you eats the pickles? I don't like the pickles - I only eats them if they is stuck to the cheese. I can't waste cheese.
